THE PARENTS' COUNCIL
Did you know that all parents and guardians who have daughters in the school are automatically members of the Parents' Council? The members of the Parents' Council Committee are elected by the parents to represent you, to keep you informed and to participate at all levels in the decision-making processes that affect your daughters. At present there are 12 elected members of the Parents' Council, and two elected parent representatives on the Board of Management. The PC Committee meets every 4 to 6 weeks, setting their own agenda which is greatly influenced by you the parents.
You don't have to join the Parents' Council Committee to get involved!
There are many ways to contribute, such as helping at parent information evenings, mock interviews, baking, or lending your expertise in other ways. Getting involved even in a small way has been proven to have an incredibly positive effect on your daughter and by giving something back to the school, you too will feel great satisfaction. So go on, include St Louis High School Parents' Council in your list of activities!
The Parents' Council endeavours to foster co-operation between parents, staff and school management. The council informs parents of developments in education relating to the school, as well as organising social and educational events for parents and students.
The AGM is held in September when five members of the Parents' Council Committee step down and five new members are elected.
The new Parents' Council for 2019-2020 will be announced soon.
We meet monthly to help plan school events, fundraisers, parents' social evenings and to advocate on your behalf at these regular meetings. Activities include: the annual Christmas fair, which raises significant funds for the school; real and meaningful input into the school policies and assisting with and supporting various events in the school. We will keep you posted as to our plans for this year.
If you wish to contact us, there is a letter box in the school foyer or you can email us on parentcouncil@stlouishighschool.ie.
The Parents' Council AGM for 2019-2020 was held on Tuesday 24th September. At this meeting Dr Nadia Ramoutar gave a compelling presentation 'Difficult conversations with your teenager'. She has very kindly agreed to share it on our school website.
