Senior Cycle

The Senior Cycle is a two-year programme leading to the Leaving Certificate Examination at the end of Sixth Year. Before they commence Fifth Year, students will be asked to choose their subjects for the Leaving Certificate. Students usually take seven exam subjects. The Core subjects are:

Gaeilge, English and Maths 

The other subjects offered from which students will choose four are:

History
Geography
Music
Art
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Home Economics
French
German
Economics
Business
Accounting

All subjects are offered up to Honours/Higher Level in all subjects.The students also have classes in Religion, PE and Social Education. Applied Mathematics can be offered as an after-school option for some students depending on demand.The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) is also offered in the school. This programme is designed to give a strong vocational dimension to the Leaving Certificate (established). The programme combines the virtues of academic study with a new and dynamic focus on self-directed learning, enterprise, work and the community.
During the Senior Cycle, each student’s progress is closely monitored and they sit regular exams in all subjects.
Mock Leaving Certificate Exams are held in late January/early February.Parent/Teacher meetings are held for all students. Please consult the School Calendar for dates.
